Phillip Thigpen is a Director in PwC’s Financial Markets group. He has over 25 years of experience in mortgage finance and fixed income capital markets, where he has acted in advisory, managerial, transactional, investment and operational roles. Mr. Thigpen specializes in structured finance, credit enhancement, liquidity strategies, the mortgage-backed securities market, NPL, and loan originations.
His clients include both government entities as well as commercial entities.
Prior to joining PwC, Mr. Thigpen was Treasurer and Head of Capital Markets at the largest non-bank mortgage company in the Middle East, where he organized, set up, headed, and profitably managed the company’s treasury and capital markets departments. He also led a boutique transaction management and strategic advisory firm and was previously a Senior Vice President at GMAC CommercialMortgage Corp., where he organized and led the company’s commercial mortgage backed securities team. Mr. Thigpen has conducted transaction management, consulting and strategic advisory work in the United States, Canada, France, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Brazil, Mexico, Poland, Egypt,Jordan, and Mongolia.
Mr. Thigpen began his career in financial services at Salomon Brothers Inc., where he was a member of the Mortgage Securities Department. Working on the trading desk in New York, his client base was comprised of institutional fixed income investors and multifamily, single family and commercial mortgage lenders.
Mr. Thigpen is a graduate of Harvard College and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business.
